Promoting Leadership Development, Increased Civic Capacity and Equity in All Policies

"The beauty of FLTI is that each participant brings their lived experience and knowledge to the conversation. That's how we all learn from each other."

                 Cristalray Dominguez, FLTI Facilitator

Family Leadership Institute (FLTI) is a nonpartisan 20 week series of classes held once a week which aims to narrow the gap between public policy and actual community members. FLTI of Colorado has been using the national curriculum from the renowned, Parent Leader Training Institute to increase community engagement and to ensure that public policies and programs reflect the needs and include of the voices of the diverse communities they are supposed to serve. Certified facilitators guide participants through the in-depth curriculum where they learn to use their voices and communicate clearly and effectively to create positive change in their communities for children and families.

"A lot of Hispanic and Latino people don't see what skills we have that we can bring to the table. Because of FTLI, I believe I can do this. I don't have to be somebody who's well-known. But no matter what kind of change a person is going to make, it's not one person who does it. It's a whole community."

                                                                     Maricela Lucas, FLTI Alumni
